See This Hilarious Chihuahua That's Inexplicably Scared of Strawberries
Dogs can get up to some hilarious antics, but some are just downright confusing. In the short clip below, a Chihuahua more than proves this point – she’s terrified of strawberries. The closer the snack is held to her, the more alarmed she gets. Then, the pup decides to end the madness by nipping at the offending fruit!
See It to Believe It
As shown here, these rugged little dogs are often the canine punchline for many reasons. Their generally zany personalities are usually why! Chihuahuas are notorious for acting like big, strong dogs despite their tiny size and often comical appearances. In addition, individual pups have their own unique personalities. There’s no telling where the one we see above got an issue with berries, but it’s likely laughable!
Let’s read on and learn more about this feisty breed, including its intriguing background.
Where Did Chihuahuas Come From?
This adorable and amusing dog breed is originally from Mexico. That’s not the whole picture, though, as recent studies imply the historically native canines migrated from the Siberia region. This was likely alongside humans who followed the same path and became the ancestors of native populations like the Aztecs and Mayans. Another possibly lesser-known civilization called the Toltecs was thought to have bred dogs called Techichi, considered the progenitor of today’s Chihuahua.
Did you know that both the Techichi and Chihuahua were held in high regard by their human companions, often for spiritual reasons? Ancient natives felt they were able to see the future and also guide their owners through the afterlife. For a while, these precious dogs were a sign of wealth and nobility, but the economy eventually allowed many families to enjoy one as well!
Why Are Chihuahuas So Hilarious?
Not only are they small and cute, but the Chihuahua’s behaviors are often bizarrely bold and energetic. This combination can be seen as loyal and endearing by their families, whom they avidly protect. Although curious to see, this breed is quite tenacious and will act like a full-sized watchdog if given the chance. However, it’s important to remember that little dogs given this responsibility are indeed small. They simply don’t have a powerful bite to back their bark! This factor doesn’t slow them down, because next to nothing interrupts this canine’s courageous nature.
These factors alongside their minimal size and high-pitched voices may create a disconnect, though. Not only do some people misunderstand the behaviors and communications of Chihuahuas, but the dogs themselves sometimes overcompensate. A phenomenon known as “small dog syndrome” can affect them, causing unruly attitudes and unhappy owners alike. Not to worry, as patience and dedicated training will curb any rough spots, and can eventually set pups back on the path to being amazing companions once more.
