Watch This Leopard Somehow Escape the Grip of a Massive Python
It’s not often that we see a predator that is able to escape the grip of a python. However, every now and then, the animal’s fight for survival kicks in, and we see tremendous victory on their part. Let’s see what happens with a leopard trying to antagonize an African rock python below.

Leopard and African Rock Python Sighting in Africa
The next YouTube video posted at the top of this article takes us to Africa. This video was shared by the owner of the Live Life African Safari Getaways. One of his tourists, Suzie Moll, captured this video while on a tour in the bush, according to the YouTube description. She shares her description of what happened on that tour just below.
“We got to an area where we came across a leopard who seemed curious about something in the grass. Knowing that the leopard could be preparing for the hunt, the guide stopped the vehicle and we watched for a while. Between the bushes – the hidden creature became clear into view and we realized that this leopard took an interest in a HUGE African Rock Python!”
The Powerful Grip of a Massive African Rock Python
At the start of this video just above, this leopard has emerged from the woods because he caught sight of some food close by. A massive African rock python is curled up in the grass. The leopard leaps up into the air so that he can land on this python in one fell swoop. However, it wasn’t good enough.
This python starts to wrap himself around this leopard and grips this feline so tightly. The leopard is able to stay on his feet and fight back. This is the only reason why this video ends with the leopard being free. Not many prey have the story of being able to be free from this vicious python.
Is the African Rock Python Venomous?
The rock python (Python sebae) is commonly referred to as the African rock python because it is solely located in Africa. Venom is defined as “capable of putting poison or venom into another animal’s body usually by biting or stinging it.” The African rock python is a non-venomous python.
While we might be thinking how a python could defend itself without being venomous, this python has no need for it when it uses its own strength to defeat predators.
The African rock python can weigh up to 200 pounds and reach over 25 feet in length. They have a crushing force when they constrict themselves around their prey or predators, using their weight and length to their advantage. In addition to that, these pythons are known to bite to defend themselves.
Lucky for this leopard, he was able to stay on his feet and get away quickly before he was completely consumed by these fierce predators.
